Dream Interpretation and Waking Life

What you dream shapes what you think about your upcoming plans and your closest confidants, especially if nighttime reveries fit with what you already believe.

People across cultures often assume that dreams contain hidden truths, much as Sigmund Freud posited more than a century ago. In fact, many people think dreams provide more meaningful information regarding daily affairs than comparable waking thoughts do.In one experiment, participants reported feeling closer to a friend after imagining a dream in which the friend defended them, versus betrayed them. This is very good evidence that dreamed of actions can result in a self-fulfilling prophecy, a person who dreams about a loyal friend may then act in ways that encourage the friend to behave loyally.

Dreams about People

Dreams about People: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - People

Usually our dreams are filled with people. We dream about our families, our friends, our neighbors, and our classmates. We dream about strangers, colleges, famous people, teachers, and, at times, our supposed enemies. Each dream is very special and carries its own unique message. When interpreting this dream with people in it, consider all of the details and the feelings in the dream. If the person is known to you, think about your relationship with him or her and the issues that the dream has brought up. We learn about ourselves through others, and probably our most valuable possessions are our relationships. Some believe that the strangers in your dreams represent different parts of yourself and are extensions and projections of your own personality. Many people believe that their dreams can predict the future. When they have negative or frightening dreams, they become anxious about the future. Alternatively, when their dreams are a form of wish-fulfillment, the dreamers become very excited and are hopeful that the dream will come true. Most dreams are not prophetic but are psychological or spiritual in nature. Their primary function may be to help us live better in the present, rather than the future.

A Question:
Dreams about people from my past?

I always have dreams about all of my friends from high school. I am in my last year of college, about to graduate, but I hardly ever have dreams about people from college or from work. Maybe 1 in 100 dreams.

My dreams are constantly about people from high school...friends, teachers, my family (who I am not very close with to begin with. My own decision...they want to be close with me but I don't with them).

Someone told me this is because I subconsciously want to be with those people again...but I gladly left them behind when I graduated and never spoke with them again. I wanted to get on with my life and meet new people.

Could it be that my dreams really mean this? Consciously I don't want anything to do with them anymore, they're all in my past.

So what do these dreams really mean?

An Answer:

To see people you know in your dream, signifies qualities and feelings of those people that you desire for yourself.

To see people from your past in your dream, refers to your shadow and other unacknowledged aspects of yourself. It can represent a waking situation that is bringing out similar feelings as your past relationships.
